ASRA is an association for individuals and institutions with a strong interest in sound recording history, its development and all related activities. Membership consists of but is not limited to professional sound recordists and archivists, private recording collectors, radio broadcasters and social historians.

As an incorporated association, ASRA operates independently and does not represent or endorse the views, activities, services or operations of its institutional and corporate members and/or partners.

ASRA publishes the Australasian Sound Archive (ASA), a journal featuring papers by professionals in the sound and archival industries. Each issue typically contains content delivered at the preceding ASRA Conference.

ASRA members receive access to the ASRA community, digital access to the ASA (ASRA’s journal) and discounts to ASRA’s annual conference.

To become a member or renew your membership, visit the ASRA Store online (Paypal, credit or debit card accepted). Alternatively, download, print and complete this form and return it to ASRA either:

  • via post with an enclosed cheque; or

  • via email to the Treasurer to arrange direct payment via EFT.

Further information is on the form. For any additional queries about memberships, payments or tax receipts, please contact treasurer@asra.asn.au.

Please note: if applying online and wishing to pay via credit or debit card, please select the ‘Pay with PayPal’ option and on the Paypal login window, choose the grey button at the bottom - ‘Pay with Debit or Credit Card’ or ‘Pay with Card’ and follow the prompts. If you have Paypal set up for automatic payments on your device or computer (Paypal is automatically signing you in), you will not encounter the login window and will not be presented with a card option unless it is connected to your Paypal account. In this circumstance, you will need to go to your Paypal account and turn off the Auto-login feature for that device (under settings > security > auto-login within Paypal).
